2012 Recap

The Latest Word from John Ed Mathison

2012 has been a very productive year for the John Ed Mathison Leadership Ministries. I have had a variety of experiences in preaching/teaching in many exciting venues. I have been involved in some local church almost every week during 2012.

I had an opportunity to preach/teach in many different geographical venues. During 2012 I have ministered in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Michigan, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Ohio, and Ecuador. I have encountered some extremely vital churches.

I have had the opportunity to minister in 7 different denominations. I have preached 114 times. I led 24 seminars. I officiated at several funerals and weddings. I also spoke to several sports teams and to employees in several businesses.

I have been extremely impressed with some of the ministers with whom I have worked this year. I was in all size churches. I participated in ministry with several rapidly growing churches who have pastoral leaders who are visionary. I am always energized by associating with these leaders.

I also have spent more time in 2012 working individually with some pastors trying to invest more of my time with pastors over a period of time. I am probably going to do more of this in the future.

One exciting thing has been the use of social media. In the past few months we have developed a Facebook account where we post the blog and my son Si has worked with me in posting a brief message and/or scripture each day. We also have developed a prayer ministry on Facebook where people can post requests and pray for each other. We recently were able to figure out the technology of placing a two-minute audio devotional on our Facebook page each day. The response has been tremendous. Whenever I use the term “we” in the context of technology, please know that I am providing about 1%!

I have continued producing materials for a global faculty in an effort to impact churches around the world. James Davis leads and facilitates this. Some of other members of the faculty are Rick Warren, Len Sweet, Ed Young, Elmer Towns, Ronnie Floyd, and several international pastors.

The ministry just developed a four-minute video about the John Ed Mathison Leadership Ministries. This will be used as an informational introduction to our ministry. Will Adams at Frazer helped us put this together. We’re working to get this on our website. Contact our office if you would like a DVD.

I also completed my term as chairman of the Committee on Episcopacy for the Southeastern Jurisdiction. Thank you so much for your prayers in helping to formulate the election of Bishops and the assignment of Bishops. I worked with an excellent committee and have received a lot of feedback about a lot of new procedures that we put in place to facilitate this process. Other Jurisdictions will incorporate some of these procedures in their process. Many of you made suggestions. Thank you!

Linda Poole and I have worked together for 16 years. She continues to manage the office, schedules, finances, etc. in an excellent manner. We have an active Board of Directors who meet regularly and give oversight to the ministry.

The new book – When God Redefines the Possible – has been well received. I want to follow that theme for 2013.

2013 already has a challenging schedule. I look forward with great anticipation. I want to thank you so much for the prayers and financial support that you give this ministry. You make this possible.
