CHANGE??? CHANGE!!! – Part 2
MindVolt recently gave us our annual digital performance report showing that we reached 3.9 million people this past year on the digital platforms they manage! This does not include the number who listen daily on several secular radio stations. It does not include several thousand people who read my blog distributed weekly by Jere Beasley. It does not include over 500 people a day who watch my Good News video at 10:00 AM, which is produced here in the office with a telephone.
One year ago, MindVolt suggested we do a podcast monthly. Great suggestion! I’ve had great people to interview. The first podcasts were about 40 minutes long, which was normal last year. Today, the optimum time for podcasts is about 18 minutes, so I’m changing–will do two fifteen-minute segments beginning with Siran Stacey in August 2025. We started it one year ago and it has been highly successful. Senator Katie Britt will be my guest this fall.
You can go to my website johnedmathison.org to subscribe to all these daily, weekly, and monthly opportunities, which will come to your phone or computer. You will be notified by email. The 58-second radio message comes every morning. The Got A Minute video comes every Monday morning. The weekly blog comes every Wednesday morning. The monthly podcast comes in two parts—Part 1 every first Friday and Part 2 every third Friday. The willingness to change has brought incredible growth.
It takes me about five hours every day to write and record all these different ways that communicate the Gospel—but it’s worth it! Actually, I have never enjoyed writing. It has always been a challenge for me in the ministry. Now, most of my ministry is writing. God has a sense of humor! The most challenging part is the 58-second message for secular radio stations. We are on several of them daily. Radio stations today are automated and so the time has to be exact.
Being willing not to change the message and the mission of this ministry, but changing the mindset of thinking differently and the methodology of utilizing new ways of communicating—this ministry has really reached heights that I never dreamed of. And the best days for this ministry are still in front of us!
God seems to be opening other doors in this digital ministry. I want to be prepared to walk through them. Throughout this ministry, when an opportunity appears, we do not ask how much it will cost as the first question. That usually will produce a negative answer. The best question is not how much it will cost, but how much can God use it to reach more people. That’s why we do ministry.
We are very responsible financially. The first thing we did was to join ECFA—Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability started by Billy Graham. This is the most stringent financial accountability for Christian ministries. Also, if sufficient funds aren’t given, then we will cut back at whatever point it takes to be responsible stewards. It is a faith ministry. None of the new digital ministries in the past six years were budgeted, but we stepped up and God has provided.
I wrote a book on change—and I was challenged to apply it. I had actually taught these concepts in other churches—then discovered that I needed to apply it in my ministry and my situation. Are you sure you know in your life what doesn’t change, but what must change? Not answering those two questions accurately will lead to ultimate defeat and death.
How much are you willing to change?
