A latest study found that 48% of the people in the United States feel that their life is currently lacking fun. That’s sad. Every day you live without finding joy, fulfillment, meaning, and fun is a day wasted. It was revealed that the benefits of having fun showed that 72% felt less stress, 57% felt more motivation, and 57% felt closer to family and friends.
Peter addressed this same issue in his day in I Peter 3:10-11. He wrote, “If you want to enjoy life and see many days, keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies. Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace and work to maintain it.” His pattern for enjoying life and seeing happy days is still applicable today. Just look at each phase:
- TAME YOUR TONGUE. V. 10
So much of the Bible is devoted to the power of the tongue. If you want to have happy days, you have got to tame it. If I had one simple gift that I could give to every person in the country, it would be a roll of duct tape—to cover our mouths.
Today, such terrible rhetoric is occurring between politicians, church people, athletes–you name most any group and you will see the damage of the tongue. What if nobody spoke evil of anybody else? What if we built people up rather than tearing them down? What if we quit complaining and started talking about the good things that we enjoy? We must transform our thinking before we can transform our tongues. How tame is your tongue? You won’t see happy days and enjoy life until your tongue is under God’s control.

Every day we have one or two choices. We can either follow what we think ought to happen, or we can follow what God wants to see happen. The best that we can plan is really futile. God always has the very best plan. Satan really wants to incorporate us into evil deeds. Jesus invites us to spend our lives doing His will. Evil ways always lead to lack of happiness and enjoyment. Doing what God called you to do will put a happy face on you.

Right now, we are seeing nations trying to find peace. In the world, Jesus was the Prince of Peace. Wars and conflict are not His gameplan—being a peace-builder can change the world.
Peace comes when we offer grace instead of a gun. Peace comes when we offer servant leadership instead of selfish endeavors. Peace comes when we recognize the worth of every person and treat them as we would like to be treated. Peace is not a written contract, but it is a covenant to love God and to love people. Peace doesn’t come through human strength but from God alone. Peace is not when you are in control, but when God is in control.
