Every problem has a solution. Here is my take on the solution to the problem of pornography. Remember that knowing a solution to a problem doesn’t do much good unless you practice the solution.
England has come up with a great idea to combat pornography. It is the HMD Fuse smartphone which uses AI to block viewing, sending, receiving, and creation of nude images. It is intended for teens, but adults really need it also. James Richards says that Nokia phones use a system developed by a British company, SafeToNet. When nude images appear, the entire screen is blocked, and all communication apps are closed. The software can’t be turned off because it is embedded deep in the system.
I like that, but the phone is only available in the U.K. Available to anybody anywhere is God’s plan that when He lives in your life, you have the power to ignore any imagery that is inconsistent with God’s plan for your life. It’s a lot cheaper than a new phone!
To stop the growth of pornography, parents must discuss it with their children and youth. Parents must become more proactive in monitoring what children and youth watch and read. Studies show that young people really want more direction at home in dealing with the temptations they face.
The best defense against pornography begins with a confession of our sins, a commitment to Jesus, and receiving the power of the Holy Spirit. You become a totally new person in Christ. Paul wrote, “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old is passed away, the new has come.” (II Corinthians 5:17) Christianity isn’t making you a better person, but rather making you an entirely new person!
The secret comes in allowing Christ to live in me. Paul wrote, “It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.” (Galatians 2:20) When you observe something questionable that you can watch or read, just ask yourself whether or not Jesus who lives in you would be pleased with your choice. Don’t do anything that would embarrass Jesus!
Temptation will always be around us. It is not a sin to be tempted. Jesus was tempted three times before He began His public ministry. He immediately used God’s Word to defeat His temptation. (Matthew 4:1-11) Temptation usually leads to sin when we have a discussion with Satan. You won’t beat Satan in an extended debate. Nip it in the bud! Say “No” immediately! God’s Word is your weapon!
It is possible to defeat the temptation of pornography. I John 4:4 reminds us, “He who is in you is greater that he who is in the world.” Job said, “I have made a covenant with my eyes to refuse sexual sin.” (Job 31:1) David said, “Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things and give me life in your eyes.” (Psalm 119:37)
Satan’s strategy is to make pornography attractive and acceptable. Jesus’ strategy is to show that He is the Only Way, the Uncompromised Truth, the Abundant Life, (John 14-6) and He will respond affirmatively to your invitation for Him to come and live in your life.
Are you living in the problem or the solution to pornography? Your choice!
